The incident took place around 8:30 pm on Wednesday (September 29) inside a Rohingya camp in Lombashia, Kutupalong. SP Naimul Haque, commander of the 14th Armed Police Battalion, confirmed the matter and said that unidentified gunmen opened fire on Rohingya leader Muhibullah in the D block of Kutupalong No. 1 camp. He was seriously injured. He was later taken to MSF Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Another Rohingya leader, Dil Mohammad, said unidentified gunmen fired a total of five rounds at him while he was in his office after Esha prayers. Muhibullah was shot in the chest by three rounds and died.
The deceased Muhibullah was the chairman of the Arakan Rohingya Society for Peace and Human Rights. He was now in the 32 Rohingya asylum camp in Ukhia-Teknaf. He was instrumental in the Rohingya repatriation process.
On the occasion of two years of crisis, the Rohingya leader held a rally with about five lakh Rohingyas. Citing various sources, local and international media reported that Rohingya leader Mahibullah fled Rakhine State to Bangladesh in 1992. He has been in the Teknaf area ever since.
In the early twentieth century, the Arakan Rohingya Society for Peace and Human Rights, or ARSPH, was formed with 15 members. He also established contacts with local Bangladeshi human rights activists. Gradually, Muhibullah became one of the top five Rohingya leaders.
The Rohingya leader went to the United States to meet with former US President Donald Trump. It may be mentioned that on August 25, Rohingya leader Muhib Ullah called a general assembly on the occasion of the two years of the Rohingya crisis. According to the announcement, about five lakh Rohingyas gathered at the rally. Discussions and criticisms about how the Rohingyas gathered at the rally started everywhere.
